From Deterministic Data Linkage into Probabilistic Data Linkage

Abstract

|
Data linkage of existing databases has become an important research tool, especially around big data era. Korean society has stressed the protection of individual information so that the deterministic data linkage using direct identifiers has been prohibited in healthcare researches. The probabilistic data linkage (PDL) as another data linkage method could overcome this legal restriction. In other words, Korean researchers should accommodate the PDL as soon as possible. Several countries no having direct identifiers has developed some softwares based on Fellegi-Sunter model. Thus, a software conducting PDL with being fitted to Korean research environment should be developed as soon as possible.
